If You’re Exploring Additional Support

Sometimes people want to look around or find care that fits a different need or schedule. These directories can help you explore options at your own pace:

  • Psychology Today

  • Open Path Collective

  • Inclusive Therapists

Simple Grounding Practices

A few accessible tools you can use between sessions:

  • Inhale slowly into your belly, then your ribs, then your chest. Exhale in the same order. It gives your nervous system a clear “we’re safe enough” signal.

  • Choose one object in your space (a plant, a book, a piece of fabric). Spend 20-30 seconds noticing its color, texture, shape, and weight.

  • Roll your shoulders, unclench your jaw, wiggle your toes, or stretch your hands. Tiny movements can interrupt spirals more effectively than big ones.

  • Say- out loud or in your mind - one thing that is true in this exact moment. Examples: “I’m sitting on my couch.” “My feet are on the floor.” “I’m breathing.”

Book Recommendations

A small collection of books that many people find steadying or supportive as they move through grief, healing, identity, and relationships. These aren’t “shoulds”, just companions you can sit with at your own pace.

What I’m Reading Lately

I like to keep a mix of things on my coffee table. Books that help me grow in my work and stories that let me settle in and breathe a little. Here’s what I’m spending time with right now.

For my own learning…

The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness & Healing in a Toxic Culture by Gabor Maté, MD, with Danie Maté.

The book reframes “normal” as a set of trauma‑shaped survival patterns shaped by an unhealthy culture, reminding clinicians that healing happens when we help clients reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and relationships rather than pathologizing their adaptations.

For rest and imagination

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
