Therapy That Meets You Where You Are
I help women and adolescents in North Carolina work through grief, identity, trauma, and big life changes.
Therapy with me is steady and collaborative, moving at a pace that feels right for you. You’ll have space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.
I use a trauma-informed, attachment-focused approach. Your story is important, and we will honor it together.
Together, we focus on building resilience, self-compassion, and real growth.

Areas of Support
Adolescent & Young Adult Support
The teenage and young adult years bring unique challenges. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where adolescents and young adults can explore who they are, navigate peer and family relationships, deal with stress and anxiety, and strengthen coping skills for life’s transitions. Whether you’re dealing with family changes, friendship struggles, self-esteem issues, or feeling overwhelmed, therapy can help you build confidence and find your footing.
Grief and Loss
Loss can take many forms, even those we don’t always talk about. Whether you’re grieving a loved one, feeling the pain of a friendship ending, adjusting to a new role, or letting go of a dream, your experience matters and deserves support.
Perinatal Support, including Substance Use and Recovery
I offer compassionate, nonjudgmental support throughout the entire perinatal period—from pregnancy through the postpartum months. Whether you’re navigating substance use, pregnancy loss, postpartum distress, or the everyday challenges of becoming a parent, I’m here to help you with dignity and care. Together, we practice simple tools you can use at home to soothe both yourself and your baby while creating a nurturing environment.
Relationship & Attachment Patterns
Our early experiences shape how we relate to others throughout our lives. I help you understand why you react or respond the way you do in relationships by exploring the patterns formed in childhood and the protective parts of yourself that show up when you feel vulnerable. Using attachment theory and Internal Family Systems, we’ll work together to improve communication, build healthier relationship dynamics, and break cycles that may be creating distance or conflict in your connections with others.
Everyday Challenges
I help people manage stress, anxiety, changes in relationships, academic pressure, and self-esteem challenges. Therapy offers a safe place to work through what feels overwhelming and find balance. I also support clients facing career changes, moves, new roles, and finding new meaning in life.
My Approach
-
Starting therapy can feel like a lot.
This is where we slow down. We begin with connection. There is no pressure to dive in fast. Whether you’re navigating grief, trauma, or just feeling off, we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable. I draw from person-centered therapy, polyvagal theory, and EMDR to support growth that’s collaborative and grounded in relationship.
-
Our stories do not live in isolation.
They are shaped by family, culture, nervous systems, and the roles we have had to play. In this space, we make room for what has been carried, grief that has gone unspoken, patterns that no longer fit, and the parts of you that have been waiting to be heard. Attachment work helps us explore how connection has felt and how it could feel different.
-
Resilience isn’t about pushing through.
It’s about learning to listen to your body, set boundaries, and come home to yourself. Together, we will work to build regulation, increase self-trust, and create space for the parts of you that have been in survival mode. EMDR and polyvagal-informed care support this process in a way that is steady and embodied.
My name is Ann Marie. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and the founder of Wild Azalea Counseling. I provide caring, down-to-earth virtual therapy for women and teens throughout North Carolina.
I work together with my clients in a trauma-informed way, focusing on real connection. I use polyvagal theory, attachment work, and EMDR to help support steady and lasting healing.
Here, you can take time to slow down, feel heard, and reconnect with yourself.
I’m glad you’re here.
Therapy should fit your needs, both financially and emotionally. Individual sessions cost $100. You can find rates for EMDR and family therapy on my Services page.
I offer a few reduced-fee spots for clients who need a lower rate. If you want a more structured low-fee option, I also work with Open Path, which provides ongoing reduced-rate sessions through their network.
If you need out-of-network reimbursement, I can provide superbills. I am also working on joining insurance panels and will post updates here as they happen.
If cost is a concern, we can talk honestly about what works for you. I want therapy to be accessible while making sure our work together remains sustainable.
Fees & Accessibility
Ready to Begin?
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We’ll begin with a 15-minute consult where you can meet me, ask any questions, and see if this feels like the right fit for you. You only need to share what you’re comfortable with.
If we choose to work together, we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. We’ll talk about what’s on your mind, what you hope for, and what matters most to you. You don’t need to have all the answers. We’ll work through it together.
